Please join us for our workshops!  Led by Yoga Therapists, each workshop is designed with you in mind.  They’re all $25 – if you register early.  See below for descriptions of the workshops.  We hope to see you soon!

Yoga for Body Image

Do you (or someone you love!) have negative, complicated feelings about your body?  We live in a society that is generally not supportive of our differently shaped bodies.  Yoga is a healing modality often used in conjunction with other therapies for eating disorders.  While our society (and Instagram!) may have you believe that yoga is all about looking certain ways in poses, we will instead be focused on the inward expression of each posture and cultivating the deep connection between body, mind and spirit.  We know how deeply healing yoga can be and hope you’ll open your heart to this opportunity!

Yoga for Runners  

Saturday, Aug 15 2-4pm

An average runner’s foot strikes the ground 1,000 times per mile!  From the casual runner to the competitive, runners tend to focus more on the strength of muscles and less on keeping muscles long and supple.  This workshop focuses on lengthening through the body, as well as providing strengthening for the sometimes overlooked muscles of the shoulders, arms and core.  In addition to postures, we will learn breathing techniques that support running, and spend time massaging the deserving feet.

Yoga for Digestion 

Friday, Sept 18 7-9pm

Have tummy upset?  Let Vivianne, Verapose Yoga Therapist and MPH in Dietetics candidate, lead you through the potential causes of digestive upset, as well as yoga poses, breath work and other techniques to aid in proper digestion.  We hope you’ll join us!

Pranayama (Breath Work)

Saturday, Sept 26 2-4pm

Come learn both the science and power of breath.  The breath is a powerful tool to calm the body and the mind, and a part of a yoga practice that we carry everywhere we go.  Breath also has the power to energize and cleanse the body.  Find those breath techniques that suit your lifestyle, and create a breath toolbox.  This workshop will look at the reasons breath work is so powerful, as well as give cooling and warming techniques to try in a supportive and loving environment.  At times the breath will be coordinated with movement, so come dressed in comfortable clothing.  Discover the power of your breath!

Sweetest Day Partner Yoga  

Friday, Oct 16 7-9pm

Time to honor your loved one with the gift of your time, attention and devotion!  Celebrate someone special – perhaps your best friend, the love of your life, a daughter or a mother – while we practice yoga together.  Practicing yoga with another person allows you to connect deeply and support one another emotionally and physically.  Invite your partner to try yoga for the first time; this is a beautiful way to introduce someone you love to yoga.  We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the sweetest thing in our lives: love!

Transition with Intention Yoga

Fall is a time when the changes in nature can bring up the changes that we deal with in our daily lives. Whether it be a new job, grief and loss, or simply a new direction in our lives, transitions can bring fear and uncertainty. Find out how yogic philosophy can help us through these changes in our lives with grace and calm. Through a practice around breath work, yoga asanas and meditations, we will gain tools to move through life’s transitions in a mindful way.

108 Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) of Gratitude 

Friday, Nov 20 7-9pm

108 is an auspicious number, according to yogic traditions.  There are nadis, or energy channels, that lead energy through the chakra system; there are 108 nadis that converge at Ahatata, the heart chakra.  The number 108 connects the Sun, Moon, and Earth: The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters.  Each sun salutation is an opportunity to cultivate gratitude.  Come join us, for even a few, to celebrate the season of Giving Thanks!

Yoga for Colds and Flu 

Saturday, Nov 14 2-4pm

Not interested in getting a flu shot?  Come learn the healing powers of yoga to boost immunity and fight off infection.  Through breathwork, chanting and gentle postures, we will create a place to soothe the body, in order to keep colds at bay this season.  Already caught something? Find out the yogic techniques that can stop a cold in its tracks!  This workshop will combine essential oils, yoga, pranayama (breathwork), and Ayurveda to keep you feeling your best.

Yoga for Deep Sleep

Friday, Dec 11 7-9pm

Holidays have you feeling exhausted and restless?  Learn the medical causes of sleeplessness, as well as a holistic approach to combating the many causes in our lives for restless sleep.  Yoga has the ability to soothe both the body and the mind.  Come learn a series of calming postures to prepare your whole being for a restful, restorative night’s sleep.  Finish up the evening with a yoga Nidra, a yogic sleep that is said to be the deepest place of relaxation while still conscious.  Sweet dreams!
