Humans, and in particular, hearts are meant to connect. When cells were removed from two different human hearts and placed into Petri dishes they established their own rhythm, yet once combined, the cells connected and created a new joined rhythm. This need to connect extends beyond the cells of the heart and permeates into all areas of our lives. Rarely does this need become so sharply recognized as during this busy holiday season.
One way to work on this idea of connection is through the practice of meditation. For many of us, when we get rushed, both meditation and our simple moments of connection are the first things we sacrifice. The heart itself is a wonderful teacher here as well, always making sure to care for itself, so that it may then take care of the rest of the body. If the heart were to divert its energy to other parts of the body first, the results would be devastating. In a similar way, in order to maintain our ability to connect with others, we must work to maintain the openness of our own hearts.
Meditation around connection and an open heart:
When you open your eyes, notice how the heart center feels, and how your ability to connect feels during the day. You are SO loved and loving!
